Submissions to TSPJ : Current Calls

Authoritarianism, racism, and genocide are deeply interconnected, sharing common roots that have long been used to justify systemic violence and oppression. These forces are not confined to history or distant places; they continue to shape lived realities today. In the United States, recent acts of injustice and abuse committed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) underscore how state power can be wielded against vulnerable communities with devastating consequences. This, unfortunately, is part and parcel of the human experience—both in America and elsewhere.

In light of these realities, and in keeping with TSPJ’s ongoing commitment to justice, we welcome finely crafted poems that confront, question, and seek to mitigate social injustice in the United States. Please submit no more than three poems, in English or Spanish, for publishing consideration. Submit your work as a single Word document (.docx), .rtf, .pdf, or .txt file.

The Skinny Poetry Journal (TSPJ) is also calling for poems, Skinnys or otherwise, that honor the great electric slide and dance of friction that is life--especially poems that reverence the vital living pulse of all people--all colors, all Latinx familia, all English flowered furious fam--all LBGQT+ pens, all faiths--or lack thereof--all politics, all homo sapiens hooked on the composition of finely-crafted work imbued with unapologetic authenticity. Up to three poems can be submitted for publishing consideration, attached as a single Word doc, .docx, .rtf, .pdf or .txt file.
